DIGNITY AT WORK CHARTER

“We at CoisCéim commit ourselves to working together to maintain a workplace environment that encourages and supports the right to dignity at work. All who work here are expected to respect the right of each individual to dignity in their working life. All will be treated equally and respected for their individuality and diversity. Bullying and harassment in any form are not accepted by us and will not be tolerated. Our policies and procedures will underpin the principles and objectives of this Charter.

All individuals, whether directly employed or contracted by us, have a duty and a responsibility to uphold this Dignity at Work Charter.

Managers, supervisors and staff representatives where applicable in the workplace have a specific responsibility to promote its provisions.”

SAFE TO CREATE: CoisCéim adopted Safe to Create’s Code of Behaviour on 4 September 2023 and all contracts / agreements with the Company reflect our individual and collective pledge to construct safe and respectful workplaces.

GRIEVANCE & DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

The Grievance procedure applies where an Employee has cause to complain about another Employee or Board Member or any matter relating to the Employee’s employment.

The purpose of the Disciplinary Procedure is to ensure that Employees and Board Members cannot abuse colleagues, clients or CoisCéim’s resources without regard for their actions.

SAFETY AT WORK
HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

We of CoisCéim Dance Theatre are committed to working in accordance with the provisions of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and other associated legislation and the requirements of this Safety Statement. We are committed to fulfilling our statutory obligations to manage and co-ordinate workplace safety and health and ensuring, so as far as is reasonably practicable, that:

• Work activities are managed so as to ensure the safety, health and welfare of our employees
• The safety statement is maintained and updated, risk assessments are carried out and reviewed as required and brought to the attention of all employees at least annually
• Identified protective and preventive measures are implemented and maintained
• Improper conduct likely to put an employee’s safety and health at risk is prevented
• A safe place of work is provided, which is adequately designed and maintained
• A safe means of access and way out is provided
• Safe plant and equipment are provided
• Safe systems of work are provided
• Risks to health from any article or substance are prevented
• Appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision are provided
• Where hazards cannot be eliminated, adequate arrangements, including the provision of suitable protective clothing and equipment, will be put in place to reduce the risk of injury
• Emergency plans are prepared and revised
• Welfare facilities are provided and adequately maintained
• Competent personnel to advise and assist in securing the safety, health and welfare of our employees are employed when required.

CHILD & VULNERABLE ADULT PROTECTION

CoisCéim Dance Theatre is an organisation fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children, young people and vulnerable adults from harm, regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or religion. We undertake to adopt a child-centred approach to our work with children, young people, and vulnerable adults to ensure that their well-being and safety is paramount and that their needs are fully respected at all times. Our Policy Guidelines apply to all staff and artists who work for CoisCéim Dance Theatre whether on permanent, temporary or freelance contracts, or working as volunteers. We aim to adhere to the recommendations of Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children published by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (2011).

Based on the above principles CoisCéim Dance Theatre has implemented procedures covering:

• Code of behaviour for all staff
• Reporting of suspected or disclosed abuse

GUIDELINES ON SOCIAL MEDIA

These guidelines provide guidance for all people working with CoisCéim in relation to the use of social media, which should be broadly understood for purposes of these guidelines to include social networking sites such as Facebook,Twitter and Instagram, blogs, wikis, microblogs, message boards, chat rooms, electronic newsletters, online forums, and other sites and services that permit users to share information with others.

It is important that everyone is aware of the public nature of information posted on social media and all the normal procedures in relation to confidentiality and defamatory behaviour under this contract apply to social media in exactly the same way as for traditional media.

These are guidelines for the use of personal social media to allow full freedom of individual expression without compromising the terms of employment contracts.

PERSONAL DATA STATEMENT

CoisCéim fully respects the wishes of those who may prefer to keep personal information private in line with our commitment to inclusivity.

CoisCéim has a policy of collecting only indispensable personal information that is required for employment purposes. From time to time, CoisCéim is asked to collect demographic information from the people we work with.This is to provide our primary stakeholders with anonymised statistical data to build their understanding and inform policy making. In this event, we will ask you if we can pass on your contact information to facilitate this data gathering.

contagious illness statement

CoisCéim Dance Theatre is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all the people who we work with and come in contact with.

If you have any symptoms of any kind of contagious illness and feel unwell, you should:

  • stay at home until 48 hours after your symptoms are mostly or fully gone
  • avoid contact with other people, especially people at higher risk from infectious diseases.

With regard to Covid-19, you do not need to test unless a GP or health professional tells you to. If you choose to test, information from the HSE about what to do if you are positive can be found here and ways to prevent spreading the virus here.
