DAGMARA JERZAK
Dance Artist
Dagmara is a movement practitioner, dance artist and teacher based in Dublin. Dagmara has always had passion and curiosity for movement. As a teenager, this passion sustained her on many long journeys across Poland seeking to learn more about dance, and led her to study under Leszek Bzdyl’s contemporary dance company, Dada von Bzdulow in Gdansk, and eventually on to Scotland where she completed a BA(Hons) degree at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance. After moving to Dublin in 2012, Dagmara worked both as a contemporary dancer, choreographer and teacher. She has worked as a dancer with a number of dance companies, performing in the Dublin Fringe, the Cork Midsummer and the Dublin Dance festivals and on other television and theatre productions. Parallel to this she has been developing her own holistic movement practices. Dagmara has completed a diploma from the Pilates Teacher Training Institute and also 300h Hatha Yoga Teacher training under the guidance of Susan Church and Melissa Curtis. In 2014 Dagmara set up dagda movement, a company which offers a variety of movement based workshops in contemporary dance, Hatha Yoga, Pilates and mindfulness. She works within the physical limits of participants and uses a mindful approach, kindness and non-judgemental attitude to reduce muscular and emotional tension and to develop of fuller body awareness. Dagmara encourages participants to connect with their bodies, and through breath and focus to understand their movement patterns and tendencies. Her curiosity and passion for mindful movement practices sustains her ongoing learning and teaching.
