The Choreography Project

Led by Maria Nilsson Waller

27 January –  5 March

The twelfth Choreography ProjectINTO THE DEEP, was led by Swedish choreographer Maria Nilsson Waller. It was inspired by Maria’s work, FOUNDER, which explored some of the wonders of the world’s deep oceans. FOUNDER was created in 2014 as part of a triptych – LAST LAND (2012) and STREAM (2013).

Through movement, dance and sound, this Choreography Project brought the nature of the unknown seas to the surface. Guided by Maria and working creatively with others in the group, participants practiced her unique choreography, explored story-telling through movement and discovered ways in which to use and integrate props as part of this sea-themed journey.

At the end of the Choreography Project participants presented work created in an informal site specific performance entitled INTO THE DEEP  at Dublin Central Mission.

‘We know more about the surface of the moon and Mars than we know about the bottom of the deep ocean.’ Maria Nilsson Waller.
