A DANCE, DRUMMING AND PERFORMANCE PROJECT

JUNE – JULY

STRIKING MOVES was an intergenerational dance, drumming and performance project open to people of all ages.

STRIKING MOVES brought together over 40 people of all ages in a project that enabled participants to hone their dance and drumming skills, and to create and perform some arresting choreography! A collective strike against the daily toil of work and labour proved a dynamic theme to galvanise ideas and to kickstart some lively choreography set to powerful rhythmic drumming.

The enthusiastic mix of CoisCéim Creative Steps Youth Dance Group, local boys dance group Company B, people aged 50+ from the Dance Ensemble as well as other individuals all added to STRIKING MOVES being a truly fun experience, and the creation of a fresh and exciting dance and live drumming performance.

STRIKING MOVES was presented as part of the Big Bang Festival of Rhythm in a vibrant public performance to a jam-packed audience in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar on a hot summers day in July 2014. It was thrilling to see the audience’s positive response – and was well-deserved by the performers for all their hard graft.

STRIKING MOVES was supported by IPB Insurance through the IPB Youth & Community Fund which forms part of its Corporate Social Engagement Framework.
