Dish of the Day
Choreographer David Bolger holds up a looking glass to reflect the myriad of images he can create, give form to, and re-shape to express the magical elasticity of movement. Through a process of honing, layering, adding and subtracting, he moulds his performers in and out of frames, with chameleon-like ease, to recreate the spirit of vaudeville, burlesque, clowning, technological inventions, the absurdities of human intelligence, the emotional impact of change, the psychology of colour, whilst the pendulum swings backwards and forwards through time. His mood is upbeat, quirky, comical and exuberant. DISH OF THE DAY gives a new interpretation to George Bernard Shaw’s famous quote on dancing being “a perpendicular expression of a horizontal desire”.
