ABOUT PORT OF DANCE

HKD’s Port of Dance Festival is a legacy of the Spring Forward Festival in Rijeka, which was held as a part of Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture.  Its core goal is to increase understanding and develop a wider audience for the performing arts.  The festival offers local audiences the chance to see the best of international contemporary dance performance alongside showcasing local dance productions.  There have been three editions of Port of Dance to date.  Since 2022, in addition to live experiences,  Port of Dance has dedicated a part of the program to stage performances translated into VR technology.      The festival retains it connection with Aerowaves, programming a minimum of three authors from the European network’s portfolio each year.

ABOUT HKD

This space is mainly intended for concerts, lectures, round tables and smaller scene forms.

Its space and programs are open to diverse audiences and organizers of various cultural programs. HKD fosters inclusivity as one of its fundamental values, through its accessibility as a venue and programs for people with different physical abilities. With its Volunteer programme HKD promotes volunteerism among the organizers of cultural programs and encourages citizens to actively participate in the implementation and organization of programs in the community.
