This is high calibre dance as impressive as it is charming for the spirit.
Inspired by Hoffman’s original dark tale and Tchaikovsky’s delightful score, David Bolger’s production springboards the action from the daily routine of the office into a spectacular magical adventure. 9-5 living is transformed into a richly imagined world where there is a bewitching array of characters to meet and things to behold.
This is not simply a modernisation of an old fairy tale, but a re-thinking of the story from the ground up, one that incorporates sex and the working world. The dancers interact perfectly within the space while keeping things light and free of the regimented perfection of classical ballet.
