Celebrating our 30th Year
Announcing Film screenings, outdoor performances and St. Patrick's Festival Collaboration as part of our special anniversary programme
“This is such an exciting year for us at CoisCéim, as we celebrate 30 years of making dance theatre and sharing it with audiences near and far. To help us celebrate we have put together one of our most ambitious programmes to date, featuring 3 world premieres and a national tour, working with partners including St Patrick’s Festival, Waterways Ireland, Dublin Dance Festival and many more. We are filled with joy to share the projects that we have been dreaming up to mark this momentous occasion with a brand new website.
I would like to gratefully and humbly acknowledge the many people who have helped the company thrive over the last 30 years. As the saying goes ‘ It takes a village…’ and it is with your support and that of our stakeholders that we have achieved many goals and beyond our wildest dreams. Let’s dream even bigger in 2024.” – ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND CO-FOUNDER DAVID BOLGER
ST. PATRICK’S FESTIVAL COLLABORATION
The programme includes a major partnership with this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival featuring the world premiere of PALIMPSEST for ART:2023. The show will take place at The Complex Dublin, as part of the festival’s One City Programme. Tickets will go on sale 22 January.
In parallel with PALIMPSEST, CoisCéim Broadreach will present SPARKING DEBATE, a multifaceted programme to provoke dialogue around Irish identity, hospitality and sovereignty. Activities will include an original dance pageant during the festival parade featuring over 60 talented young adults from various community groups and a series of curated physical debates during the festival weekend.
Over at Collins Barracks, as part of the Festival’s family programme, audiences of all ages will have a chance to see free screenings of FRANCIS FOOTWORK VR, Ireland’s pioneer virtual reality dance theatre production.
Speaking at the announcement Richard Tierney, St. Patrick’s Festival CEO, encouraged the public to come and be inspired:
“We are absolutely thrilled to join forces with the incredible CoisCéim for what promises to be an unforgettable collaboration. St. Patrick’s Festival serves not just as an homage to our rich Irish heritage, but also as a compelling celebration of the vibrant tapestry of contemporary Irish culture. Renowned as masterful storytellers, CoisCéim are set to wow audiences with their awe-inspiring performances, adding an enchanting layer to this year’s Festival Programme”.
