An invitation from Dublin Dance Festival saw two BROADREACH groups take part in filming THE NELKEN-LINE. The first group involved members of our Wednesday class for people aged 50+ danced The Nelken-Line on 1 March, in the light-filled gym at the Carmelite Centre, Dublin where our weekly class takes place. The second group developed from the enthusiasm of participants in 38 WOMEN project (Dec 2016). They were joined by dancers from our youth group Creative Steps and women from the wider dance community. Filming took place in the extraordinary space of Thomas Clark Square at Collins Barracks, National Museum of Ireland, Saturday 4 March.

The Nelken-Line follows on from Pina Bausch’s short processional work NELKEN and talks about the alternation of the seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winters with just a few distinct gestures. The Pina Bausch Foundation has invited groups to participate worldwide – and have their films uploaded to the Pina Bausch Foundation Vimeo channel.
