LED BY SIBÉAL DAVITT AND OLWYN LYONS
CREATIVE STEPS Youth Dance Group for AGES 15 – 25

JANUARY – APRIL

COUNTER|CULTURE draws inspiration from Olwyn and Sibéal’s professional training and experience in Contemporary, Hip Hop and Irish Traditional sean-nós and their desire to scratch beneath the surface to discover other forms of dance with Creative Steps dancers.

Do you have another style of dance that you’d like to share?
COUNTER|CULTURE will explore movement sampled from dynamic folk dances including Appalachian flatfooting, Indian Bharatanatyam traditional dance, Palestinian Dabke and many more. Choreography will be accompanied by an electronic sound score that draw the movements together to develop a vivid contemporary dance language. Expect a highly challenging dance experience! Take part in weekly technical dance classes, work creatively and collaboratively and perform with other young people in an original dance theatre piece at festivals and youth/arts platforms in spring 2018.
