Part CoisCéim’s Residency at St Patrick’s College. Under the SEEING DANCE strand of the programme, which is designed to enable students to see professional dance in various settings, CoisCéim will present Missing by David Bolger at the College itself.

It is hard to imagine what it might feel like if a loved one went missing. This poignant duet broaches the experiences of the families and communities left behind. Missing is a reminder of the fragility and beauty of moments shared. It is a dance poem to those absent and to those left in the abyss of the unknown.    It premiered to full houses and very positive response in May 2013 as part of the Dublin Dance Festival.

In the words of Festival Director Julia Carruthers:  Mysterious and atmospheric, David Bolger and CoisCéim’s Missing premiered during Dublin Dance Festival 2013.  The work has been carefully researched and rehearsed – and this is seamlessly evident in the sincerity and depth of its delivery.   Strong performances, beautiful lighting, meaningful messages… necessarily inconclusive….. haunting….

As part of the collaboration between CoisCéim and the National Gallery, THE ART OF PERFORMANCE features dancers Mónica Muñoz Marín and Emma O’Kane.   David Bolger explores the essence of performance itself in this site specific short piece created to coincide with the current exhibition THE WORLD OF PERFORMANCE.

Now in its fourth year, The Choreography Project is a creative and performance opportunity for adults to work with professional choreographers. In the ninth and latest project led by Jen Fleenor, the group explored how bridges are built (or burnt) between people through an inventive and highly physical choreographic process. The project culminates in an open presentation by participants at CoisCéim studio, come join us for an unusual site-specific event and see the space transformed.

Following the success of the first TALKING DANCE at the National Gallery in October, David Bolger will present the 2nd dialogue of CoisCéim’s new  initiative to further understanding about the art-form itself.
TALKING DANCE is a new series of conversations with leading dance artists. Informal and engaging, each event offers plenty of opportunities for debate and discussion about dance and its practice.

CREATIVE STEPS Dance Films

In spring 2013 Creative Steps – young people’s dance theatre took part in their third dance film project. Working with film mentor Peter Kelly, the group produced four unique dance films: Run Alice Run, Sugar, All the Kings Men, and Harmony. Each film was created by a Creative Steps dancer in collaboration with others in the group. Filmed at CoisCéim studio and various locations around Dublin including Portmarnock beach, this will be the first time the dance films are shown on the big screen.

Also to be screened are two dance films, Restless and Waves, made by members of Creative Steps as part of previous in-house film projects.

Open Level taster classes in Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary Dance – a chance to try something different. Jazz is a fast-paced and energetic class where everyone can hit the beat! Ballet will stretch you to the maximum and Contemporary offers a truly expressive dance experience.

TEA & DANCE is a relaxing and enjoyable dance event for anyone wishing to meet friends old and new. There will be plenty of opportunity to dance to wonderful and inspiring music, watch film screenings of recent performances by the Dance Ensemble, and of course take time for a cup of tea and a chat!
