FAUN by David Bolger

Audiences rioted when they saw Nijinski’s first ballet, L’Apres midi d’un Faune, shocked by the shameless sensuality and revolutionary dance style. Mixing Debussy’s famous score with Queen, David Bolger explores how dance still reconnects us with our feelings and imagination and asks can we still break free?

AS YOU ARE by Muirne Bloomer

Who would you rather be: Superman or Clarke Kent? We all want to stand out from the crowd – but are we willing to pay the price? In Muirne Bloomer’s quirky world, six extraordinary individuals are tested to the limit as they struggle for control over themselves and each other.

Reviews

“ … splendid … engrossing to watch … luscious sensuality … dreamlike … compellingly human” (Seona Mac Réamoinn, THE IRISH TIMES)

“The dance that lands on its feet…..exquisite…superb” (Emer O’Kelly, SUNDAY INDEPENDENT)

“… dancers shine in the limelight: sexy, smart, assured, funny… ‘I want to break free’ sings Freddie Mercury, and that is precisely what I want to do: go down and join them” (Colin Murphy, 20 Jan 2010, IRISH INDEPENDENT)

“…. Bone shakingly sexy … playful … amazing … such a sensuous and beautiful experience to watch” (THE VIEW ON FAUN)

**** …CoisCéim celebrate their 15th year with a startling double bill … This Faun is sensual, art deco-like, erotic and quite possibly the most beautiful contemporary dance you’ll see all year” (Lucy White, METRO ON FAUN)

“ … a post punk piece … terrific” (Donald Clark, THE VIEW ON AS YOU ARE)

“ … anybody who is shocked by this must have something wrong with them. This is great … (John Kelly, THE VIEW ON AS YOU ARE)

“… conformity is a constant in her futuristic world, where cyborg-like beings are controlled by James Hosty as a kind of Dr. Coppéllius character………provides lots of camp playfulness along the way..” (Michael Seaver, IRISH THEATRE MAGAZINE  ON AS YOU ARE)
